# Differences between Analog Computer and Digital Computer

Hello guys, in the previous article we have learned about Computer. Today in this article, we are going to learn about the differences between analog and digital computer. Before that, we will discuss analog and digital computer.

1. Analog Computer

An analog computer or analog computer is a type of computer that uses the continuously changeable aspects of physical phenomena such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulic quantities to model the problem being solved.

2. Digital Computer

A digital computer is the most commonly used type of computer. A computer that performs calculations and logical operations with quantities represented as a digit, usually in the binary number system. It is used for processing data represented by discrete, localized physical signals, as the presence or absence of electric current.

• The differences between Analog and Digital Computers.
Analog Computer Digital Computer The analog computer works on a continuous signal. The digital computer works on a discrete signal. This signal has two states, on or off. The output is a voltage signal, they are not exact values and are in graphical form. The outputs are in numbers, exact values are seen on displays. These computers use a network of resistors and capacitors. Here a large number of logic gates, microprocessors, and on-off switches are used. Analog computers have a limited ability to act as a digital system. Digital computers can emulate the behavior of analog computers. Analog computers are slower in speed. Digital computers are quite fast. These computers are mainly used in the field of science. These computers can be used in all fields of life. The analog computers measure analog quantities like voltage, temperature, etc. Digital computers calculate mathematical operations, complex calculations, media streaming, etc. Analog computers are a bit difficult to use. Digital computers are quite easy to use. The data storing in analog computers are quite tricky as they use continuous signals which are difficult to store. Storing data in digital computers are quite easy as they just stores either 0 or 1, which can be easily stored.
